Become a Certified Lifeguard with Nā Kama Kai

Whether you’re looking to become a lifeguard for the first time, meet employment requirements, or strengthen your water safety skills, Nā Kama Kai is proud to offer American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification courses throughout the year.

Our certification courses prepare participants with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills needed to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies.

Courses are open to individuals and organizations looking to certify or re-certify staff members.

Certification Includes
Upon successful completion, participants will receive the American Red Cross Lifeguarding (Including Deep Water) with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid Certification, valid for 2 years.

Throughout the course, participants will learn and be evaluated on:
• Lifeguarding knowledge and rescue skills
Water rescues and victim extrications
CPR for Professional Rescuers
AED use
First Aid
Emergency response scenarios
Surveillance techniques

Participants must also successfully complete:
Rotate In-Conduct Surveillance Assessment
Timed Single-Rescuer CPR Scenario
Multiple Rescuer Response Scenario
Final written exam (minimum passing score of 80%)

No previous lifeguarding certification is required.

Course Cost

$250 per student

Includes:

  • American Red Cross Lifeguarding instruction
