An animated series teaching ocean safety and stewardship principles to keiki around the world
Nā Kama Kai deeply appreciates the immense value of the ocean environment, its vast resources, and its relationship to the land. Keiki from all walks of life must learn to become stewards of the kai and ʻāina. Nā Kama Kai strongly believes in their motto – Keiki Aloha, Kai Aloha; “Beloved Child, Beloved Sea.” As the keiki continue to grow, this contemporary ʻōlelo noʻeau (Hawaiian proverb) is a reminder of their special place in the world and their relationship to the ocean and our natural environment.
“Makaʻala Bay – Lessons From The Sea” is a series of educational videos, that creatively combines animation and live action, to convey that vision. The initial five episodes follow the blueprint of the five learning stations of the Nā Kama Kai’s Ocean Clinics. These videos are designed to teach keiki all over the world the Nā Kama Kai ocean safety and stewardship principles, empowering them to embrace the beauty and wonder of the ocean and feel at home and safe in it.
